The London Borough of Waltham Forest is located Northeast of Heathrow airport a distance of 30 miles that would take around an hour by taxi via the M4. It is located in northeast London and has a population of 259,700 according to 2011 statistics.
As an Outer London Borough Waltham Forest is bordered by Enfield and Haringey to the west, Hackney and Newham to the south, Redbridge to the East and the Essex district of Epping Forest to the north. It has derived its name from Epping Forest which is located in the East. It is mainly comprised of residential areas and is the second most densely populated area in greater London and the most densley populated towns include Chingford in the north, Walthamstow in the centre and Leyton and Leytonstone to the south.
The borough has leisure activities and sites of historic interest such as Queen Elizabeths Hunting Lodge, Sutton House, Dennis Severs House, The White Building and William Morris Gallery. There are also regular events held in the borough and it has over 500 acres of open space and is close to Epping Forest and a series of reservoirs alongside the River Lea.
